Description
Brief
"The story in “Simmering Sands” is a reflection of the good and bad in
contemporary India. Since independence, the social and moral structure
has seen a sea change. Most institutions, mainly the newer ones, are
bickering and tottering with the proponents leaning more towards
gaining from them rather than consolidating them for betterment. The
era of self aggrandizement, opulence and greed has seized those in
power and those who support them. The freedom to exercise such blatant
misuse of authority is common and over reaching. Accountability and
fairness have taken back seats. The slogan to most is ‘money be-gets
money’ -- the color and shade are immaterial and of no consequence.
The more startling and devastating scene is the nexus between
criminals across the border and our home grown ones: the terrorist
organizations from abroad are helped by those for whom their avarice,
covetousness and rapaciousness are of higher value than the National,
or any other dearer, sentiment. These mercenaries, like their
sponsors, have no consideration for human life and property. They kill
humans, destroy property and bleed the society.
Everything is not lost. There are institutions with humans whose value
system is sound and they do care for human life and the Country. These
are the ones who confront the diabolical to bring in sanity and order.
These are the ones who suffer and yet do not flinch from their purpose
or cause. The world is a global village where there are those that are
inimical and destructive, there also are those who come to aid and
abet to battle these.
‘Simmering Sands’ narrates and follows an age old saga: the battle
between the evil and the good. Who wins?
Read ‘Simmering Sands’ and follow the events from Columbia University,
New York to Barmer in Rajasthan, India. It is a roller coaster ride
filled with thrill and suspense."

Manvender finds out that the Rathore Mining Corporation wasn’t just dealing in zinc and cobalt, but in Uranium deposits in the region —catering to their biggest clients, the Lashkar-e-Toiba’s sleeper cell in Barmer. Was a nuclear warhead being made readied for India, using the Uranium mined by the Rathore Mining Corporation?
From Columbia, to Barmer, to the neighboring border areas of Rajasthan, this roller coaster thriller brings forth changing loyalties, managing trust between friends and strangers and a son’s fight to bring his father and his nation the justice they deserve.
