Kensuke’s Kingdom is an action and adventure filled book of children's literature by author Michael Morpurgo. This book is based on the story of Michael who gets a yacht from his parents at the starting of the book. He is then taken sailing across the globe. Washed overboard in a terrible tempest, Michael sees himself on the shore of a distant island and goes on to discover he has company. He meets Kensuke, an erstwhile Japanese warrior, came through the war and the bombing of Hiroshima, but his family ceased to exist. Gradually a unique and impressive relation is formed among them. But shortly after Kensuke realises that he has a very tough decision to make. He has the option of leaving the isolated life he's prepared for himself or to assist in connecting Michael with his parents. Having already experienced the pain of losing his own family, Kensuke decides how he has to act in this situation. The plot followed in the book along with its lucid writing makes it an enjoyable read for all kinds of readers. Born in 1943, Michael Morpurgo is best known as an English author, playwright, and poet. Morpurgo attended various schools in central London, Devon, Sussex, and Kent. He went to the independent prep school Mount House in Devon till the age of 13. He then received his education in The King's School, a self-governing school in Canterbury. Later on, he took training for the British Army at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He then served as a teacher. He became a graduate with a 3rd class degree in English and French from King's College London. Some of his novels in addition to this book include The Day I Took the Bull By the Horn, The Marble Crusher and Other Stories, and The White Horse of Zennor: And Other Stories from below the Eagle's Nest.
