This series unfolds a story that talks about the exploits of a village of indomitable Gauls and moves on to the times when the Gauls resist Roman occupation. This book takes the reader to the time when Asterix goes for the Olympic Games. This book got published in 1968 to intentionally coincide with the Mexico City Olympics. The English translation came out in 1972, which again coincided with the Munich Olympics. The story of Asterix at the Olympic Games (Asterix Series #12) satirizes the concept of using drugs to enhance performance in sports. The story begins when Gluteus Maximus, an arrogant Roman legionnaire, is chosen as the representative of Rome at the Olympic Games to be held in Greece. Then the author takes the reader to an adventurous ride of an unforgettable tale. The book has also been adapted into a live action movie that got released in France in 2008 and was planned to coincide with the Beijing Olympics. René Goscinny, born on 14 August, 1926, is famously known as a French comics writer and editor and has won various awards. After completing his schooling, he had to look for a job because of certain circumstances at home, and he started working as an assistant accountant. He is famously known for his Asterix series, originally written in French and translated in English as well. Albert Uderzo is a famous French script-writer, comic book artist, and illustrator. Born on 25 April, 1927, he started his career as an artist after 1945 in Paris. He is famously known for his work in the Asterix series and he even took over the role of the writer of the series after the death of the original writer.
