    Stela Brinzeanu

Growing up in Soviet Moldova – a land where propaganda dominated the airwaves – Stela escaped into the world of literature from an early age. Books were the most exciting form of entertainment in her life and they saw her through the cold, candlelit nights when the countrys authorities introduced mandatory power cuts.

Stela moved to London at the age of 18. She cajoled her family, borrowed money from various racketeers and finally persuaded the British Embassy in Moldova that her intentions to educate herself in the UK were genuine.

Once ensconced in the UK, Stela graduated from the University of Westminster with a degree in Media and practised freelance journalism before setting up a magazine about the Moldovan Diaspora with a grant from the UN.

Following that, Stela turned her attention to literature. Her fiction is based on real-life stories and issues affecting Moldova, a country that is as fascinating as it is disturbing.
